FAQs

Everything You’ve wondered about…

How are you different from other companies?

We set into motion the idea of turning kids artwork into a book back in 2008 when this service and product didn’t even exist. We created the concept. And now, we set ourselves apart from the newcomers by maintaining our superb quality in our art reproduction. We don’t mass produce but rather focus on producing the highest quality archival book that is beautiful, elegant and timeless. We give careful attention to removing shadows, cleaning the background, restoring color and even fixing damaged art pieces. The quality of the art reproduction is what sets us apart and we stand by our product.

What kind of art do you accept?

In the many years since our launch, we’ve not encountered any kind of art we can’t reproduce. Oversized art, noodles, cotton balls, Popsicle sticks, and ceramics. For any extra large artwork, larger 3D or challenging pieces, there may be additional fees ranging from $5 – $20+ per piece. Most artwork sent in to us is considered regular art but if you have any questions about a particular piece, just ask! Customers who send in only 3D art will be charged excessive 3D charge ranging from $20 – $100+.

An example of 3D artwork. If it’s small, it will be counted as regular art. If it’s large, extra charges may incur due to the extra time it takes to create the digital file.

How many art pieces do you place on a page?

We place one piece of artwork per page to truly showcase each art piece. If you have smaller items, you can clip them together so that they are placed on the same page and be counted as one art piece, however the combined size of all the clipped pieces must be smaller than 11”x16”. You may even affix the items to a piece of paper so they are arranged just as you like.

Smaller art pieces can be clipped and scanned together to count as one art piece as long as the combined size in any direction is smaller than 11×16.

Do you count holiday / greeting cards front and inside one piece of art?

Yes, we will count the front/ back and inside page of a card as one piece of art and place them on the same page. If cards are very large or intricate, then they will count as 2 art pieces.

Greeting Cards are presented on the page with front / back and inside of card.
They will be counted as one art piece.

How do I place my art in chronological order?

You can organize the artwork before sending it to us and we’ll do our best to scan it in that order but you’ll have full control of rearranging the art when you customize your book.

If you have information on the back of the artwork that you ‘ll need to write your captions, we recommend that you take photos of that information before sending it to us. We are unable to access this information for you after the artwork has been sent to us.

What if I just want the art images digitized and not get the book?

We believe in showcasing your child’s artwork and our beautiful books allow you to do that. Just like a photo book, you can admire and share the memories easily when the book is on your coffee table or bookcase. Storing the art in a box in the basement is about the same as storing them on a hard drive.  Most likely they won’t ever be seen again which is why we don’t offer a digital only package.

Will I get my artwork back?

We know from experience that most parents want their artwork back. Due to increased shipping costs, we no longer can include this in our packages. Are there hidden fees?

Unlike other companies, the art box with return label is included in all packages as are printed art captions and book postage. When you customize your book, you may choose to have the artwork returned to you upon check out for $25.00. Extra charges for excessively oversized art and larger 3D artwork is possible and is determined based on the amount of work required to reproduce it. We believe in transparency in who we are, what we do and how much our service / product will cost our customers.

Why is the pricing higher than some photo book services?

Unlike photos which come in digital form, kid art must be turned into a high resolution digital file worthy of printing. We carefully scan / photo each art piece and ensure the lighting is just so. We take each image and clean it of shadows and marks. Also, each image is cropped, numbered and uploaded to your web gallery so that you may customize a beautiful book of your child’s artwork. It’s labor intensive and we believe in creating a quality book rather than mass producing poor quality books.
